Playing some catch up, and a very easy DIY valentines day gift for procrastinators like me

Down here in Georgia we have had quite the snow storm, granted in other places a few inches isn't much but to us it is a big deal. With that being said Travis and I have been "snowed in" for the past three days. When I say snowed in, I mean we have been told by officials to stay inside however that is the exact opposite of what we have done.

On Day 1 we went about our day as usual, we made the decision to go cut firewood so that when the storm hit we could stay warm. Travis and his cousins took that to the next level and decided to cut down an entire tree and then split the wood. That was a five hour ordeal. Which is pretty impressive!

Day 2 the snow and sleet finally came. We woke up to about two inches and icey roads which were not safe to drive on, at least those without four wheel drive. When we got outside to leave Travis realized he had left his sunroof open the night before. His truck was filled with sleet and ice. Thirty minutes and a lot of scooping, scrapping, and vacuuming later the truck was as good as new.

We decided instead of staying cooped up inside the house we wanted to go ride the four wheeler at his grandparents farm. I quickly decided that being on a four wheeler and sleet hitting my face was not how I wanted to spend my day, so inside I went. Later that night on our way home we saw some young girls ( when I say young I mean probably around my age) that were stuck on the side of the road. Travis being the gentlemen that he is, he decided to pull them out and drag them to the nearest gas station.

Day 3 (Today) consisted of driving around and some last minute shopping and snow cream, which was my first time ever making it. I was pretty impressed.

But most importantly my DIY valentines day gift.

I wrote something simple and cute "I won the lottery when I met you" and bought a few scratch offs,

and on this one I wrote are you lucky in love and gave him a few options of what I think would be lucky, then you take a crayon over the options and put paint on top of that. Once this dries it will make it a scratch off.

and there you have it

And a little up date of our sitting room

Can you believe that ugly black stain turned into this beautiful color after a different stain on top. With the glass and knobs to top it off i would say that this thing turned out pretty darn good!

just waiting on the other chair to arrive and the room will be somewhat complete for now :)

One of Travis DIY projects was to update his old gun, the wood was scratched up so he sanded it and re stained it. This is the process of him restaining it. It turned out amazing!

Can you feel the love?
